Visitor Visa Streams

The Visitor visa (Subclass 600) includes several streams, each tailored to the specific purpose of your visit to Australia:

1. Tourist Stream (For Holidays & Family Visits)

Ideal for those visiting Australia for leisure or to spend time with family and friends.

Key Highlights:

• Apply and be outside Australia at the time of decision.
• Travel for holidays or family visits.
• Take a short course (up to 3 months).
• Engage in unpaid volunteer work (non-professional roles only).

Special Note for Parents:
Parents of Australian citizens/permanent residents may be granted longer stay periods to support family reunification while awaiting parent visa outcomes.

2. Business Visitor Stream

Designed for business professionals visiting Australia for short-term business activities such as attending meetings, conferences, exploring business opportunities, Negotiate or review reviewing contracts, or joining unpaid seminars or trade fairs.

Key Highlights:

• Apply and be outside Australia at time of grant.
• No sponsorship required.
• Paid work or direct selling is not permitted.

3. Sponsored Family Stream

For visitors sponsored by a family member residing in Australia.

Key Highlights:

• Apply from outside Australia.
• Sponsorship from an eligible relative or government official required.
• A security bond (AUD 5,000–15,000) may be requested.

4. Approved Destination Status (ADS) Stream

Exclusively for Chinese citizens travelling to Australia as part of a government approved tour group.

5. Frequent Traveller Stream

Available to eligible passport holders who frequently travel to Australia for business or tourism.
