Eligibility Criteria

For Visa Applicants:

  • Be at least 18 years old (unless exempt).
  • Be sponsored by an approved organisation to participate in a professional development or occupational training program.
  • Be nominated for an approved occupation if the sponsor is not a Commonwealth agency.
  • Be invited to apply if the sponsor is a Commonwealth agency.
  • Undertake occupational training directly provided by the sponsor, unless exempt.
  • Participate only in occupational training that aligns with one of the approved nomination eligibility types.
  • Demonstrate functional English proficiency to undertake the training and comply with workplace safety standards.
  • Show a genuine intention to stay temporarily in Australia.
  • Meet health and character requirements.
  • Have sufficient financial support and maintain adequate health insurance for themselves and any accompanying family members.
  • Fulfill all other conditions specific to their training program.


For Sponsors:

  • Be an organisation lawfully operating in Australia.
  • Be approved as a temporary activities sponsor.


For Nominators:

  • Provide a structured and purposeful training program relevant to the nominated occupation.
  • Ensure the training meets one of the three nomination types: occupational training required for registration/licensing, occupational training to improve skills in an eligible occupation, or occupational training for capacity building overseas.

You can include the following eligible family members in your visa application:

  • Your spouse or de facto partner
  • Your child or your partner’s child (including step-children)

 

Health Insurance

You and any dependent family members must have adequate health insurance while in Australia. Your health cover can be arranged through an Australian insurer or an approved provider from your home country.
