Australian Parent visas fall under the broader category of family visas, designed to allow parents to join their children who are Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens. The core structure of Parent visas is focused on facilitating family reunification.

Parent visas are generally categorized based on whether the applicant is inside or outside Australia at the time of application.
