Character Requirements
You must meet Australia’s character requirements generally, this means having no criminal convictions or your ETA may be refused or entry denied.
Health Insurance
It is highly recommended to obtain private health insurance for the entire duration of your stay in Australia. ETA holders are not eligible for Australia’s public healthcare system (Medicare) unless they are from a country with a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement (RHCA).
Countries with RHCAs include:
Belgium, Finland, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, the Republic of Ireland, Slovenia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
Even with an RHCA, coverage is typically limited to urgent or essential care and may not cover all medical costs.

Family Members
Each person applying for an ETA, including minors listed on a parent’s passport, must submit a separate application. The ETA cannot be applied for as a family group.
How to Apply
The ETA (Subclass 601) must be applied for through the official Australian ETA mobile app. The process is simple and includes scanning your passport, taking a live selfie, and entering your personal details.
