Electronic Travel Authority (Subclass 601)

Electronic Travel Authority

(Subclass 601)

The Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)  Subclass 601 is a digitally linked visa that connects directly to your passport, offering a convenient option for short-term travel to Australia for tourism or business purposes.

Eligible passport holders can use the ETA to make multiple visits to Australia, with each stay lasting up to three months, during a validity period of one year.

Electronic Travel Authority ETA (Subclass 601)

The Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is intended for two main types of short-term visits:

1. Tourist Stream:

Ideal for those traveling to Australia for holidays, leisure, or to visit family and friends.

2. Business Visitor Stream:

Allows travel for certain business-related purposes, including:

  • Attending conferences, trade shows, or seminars (without receiving payment from organizers).

  • Making general business or job-related inquiries.

  • Reviewing, negotiating, or signing business contracts.

  • Participating in official government-to-government visits.

Important:

You are not permitted to work for or offer services to an Australian business or individual, or to sell goods or services directly to the public while on an ETA. If studying is your primary purpose, a student visa is more suitable.

Validity:

The ETA is valid for 12 months from the date of grant (or until your passport expires, whichever is earlier), allowing multiple entries, with each stay limited to up to three months.
